Funny thing about our dreams. We can put them aside, and get stuck in the day to day, but they are still there. We can get discouraged, and want to give up. But that dream just keeps coming back.
Here we are months later, and while we aren't making any progress toward moving to Wallace, we are still set on it. For a bit we thought, maybe we will just by a place a bit further out of town but still here in Central Washington. That was our thoughts for a few months. I admit, mostly winter months, when I couldn't imagine dealing with all the snow in Idaho. However, spring is here, and the longing is back. I don't want to live here anymore. I want that different lifestyle. I want the small town. I want to be near the lake. I want to be on the mountain trails. I want to slow down!
We are still a ways off from getting the hell out of here. That can be discouraging. But it is still our goal. We have worked out a few things to help us get in a better financial position soon. And we are continuing to work on the house. The hardest part is the tornadoes also known as children that make such huge messes. So my next proactive step is to start packing.
Yes, packing. Sounds strange, but, we can't sell the house with all the stuff and clutter. So why not start packing stuff up that we don't use often? And why not have yardsales, and donate stuff we don't use anymore? That way, it's easier to keep the house clean, and once we are ready to go on the market, a lot of the work is done.
Finally, here is another house that I love:

Another Step Closer
We are another step closer to having our house ready to sell! New floors are in! It feels like we are moving at a snail's pace, but I have to remember each step is part of the process to get us to our goal.

Have Patience, Have Patience
You may remember the Sunday School song. It's my motto at this time. There are things we have to do here before we can ever move. It's hard to see at times how improving our home here will help us get to Wallace, but it will.
We would move tomorrow, if we could. But to move, we need to sell our home. Our home needs work. We started with improvements this spring. We updated kitchen appliances. I am redoing the downstairs bathroom, and once complete I will paint the upstairs bathroom and update the countertop, sink and backsplash. We are also laying laminate flooring in place of the nasty gross carpet.

Ok it isn't really Mayberry
We don't really want to move to Mayberry, but if you have ever been to Wallace, Idaho, you may see the resemblance. There are no McDonald's in town, not even a drive through. There isn't a single stop light in the town. If you want to cross the street, you will find that vehicles stop and wait for you, even when they don't have a stop sign.
Wallace is a little town in Northeastern Idaho and has about 1000 residents. It's a quiet silver mining town. Most of the homes were built in the 1910's. The town itself is on the historic register. And our family has fallen in love. So join us on our journey. Moving there is probably a good year or two away, but we will start now making life changes that help us get closer to our dream town goal.
